I’ve really been looking forward to sharing this place with y’all! As you could tell from my post earlier this week, Guilin was hands down our favorite part of the China travels, mainly because of our accommodation. As i mentioned in my Guilin post, we were looking for a way to experience the river without fighting with the hoards of tourists. Laojia turned out to be the best base for this.
Laojia is located in a Langshi, a little village of 400 people, and you have to get there by boat. This is arranged for you by Maarten or Haibo, the caretaker of Laojia.
The food at Laojia was another great part of our stay. Since Langshi village is tiny and far away from anything – including restaurants, Xiaomo, a local woman prepared us vegetarian meals for lunch and dinner for only 25 yuan each. This woman really knows how to cook, and some of our best meals during our travels were for sure prepared by her.
