MONTHLY ROUNDUP // AMSTERDAM MONTH 5

MONTHLY ROUNDUP // AMSTERDAM MONTH 5

It’s December 4th and that calls for yet another monthly roundup of my time in Amsterdam. Here’s what I’ve been up to in month 5:

Highlights

// In the beginning of the month, Ollie and I spent a day of exploring De Pijp. Since we live in the Joordan area, we usually spend most of our time around there and don’t get to see much of the rest of Amsterdam. So one day we decided to spend a day being tourists and explored what De Pijp has to offer. We had a super yummy lunch, visited the Albert Cuyp market, and just strolled around the cosy neighbourhoods in the area.
// As you might already know, in the middle of the month, we went to watch the parade when Sinterklaas came to town. It was a huge parade of Sinterklaas’ helpers, Zwarte Piet, goofing around and giving out pepernoten to the children. As the end of the parade, Sinterklaas arrived, riding on his white horse, and greeting on everyone.
// As you might already have noticed on Instagram, I wen’t on a blogger trip to Morocco two weeks ago. This was my first time visiting Africa, and it was hands down one of the best trips I’ve ever been on. The trip itself was great, and our group was just the absolute best. Tomorrow I’ll be sharing my first post from Morocco, so stay tuned for that!
// The day before leaving for Morocco, I was given some quite exciting news at work. I got a promotion! Back in September I applied for a new position within my company, and as of January 1st I will be moving to the new department. Although I’m terribly sad to be leaving the amazing people in my current department, I cannot wait to start this new chapter of my life!
// Last week the embassy of Chile had invited Olivier and I to The Chilean Experience, where they presented what Chile has to offer during an amazing 4-course dinner. Thanks again to the Embassy of Chile for inviting us to this event!
// In the spirit of Christmas, yesterday we decided to go to IKEA to pick up a real Christmas tree. Since I still didn’t bring my Christmas decorations with me to Amsterdam, this definitely made our little home feel a whole lot more Christmassy!
// In the month of December, Amsterdam will be the host of the Festival of Lights, where the whole city is lit up by the most amazing light installations. I’ve already seen a few of these installations when doing a bit of Christmas shopping with Ollie earlier this week, but I will definitely have to do a proper tour of all the installations later this month!
// Although I’m a little bit late to the game, the rest of December I will attempt to upload a post every single day of this month. Many of them will of course be Christmas inspired and be both beauty and travel related. Hope you’ll enjoy this!

Lowlights

// The past week I’ve been dealing with quite a lot of stress, which has resulted in some major migraines the whole week. I’ve spent the weekend just relaxing and trying to get over this and ready for a new hectic week.

Goals for month 5

Month 6 is gonna be all about Christmas! Next week Olivier’s mom is visiting us, and we’re gonna show her around our beautiful city, and of course also throw in some Christmas markets here and there. We might also make a quick visit to the Christmas markets in Maastricht and Cologne. Apart from that I’m also gonna spend a few days doing Christmassy stuff with my colleagues, which I’m also quite excited about. A few days before Christmas eve we’ll be heading back to Denmark to be with my family. New Year’s eve will be spent in Amsterdam and then it’s time for me to begin a new chapter with me starting in my new position at work.

What are your plans for the month of December?

  1. Fint indlæg, er altid vild med personlige indlæg der lige opsummerer, og synes dine "quick numbers" er ret sjov og en kreativ måde at samle op på!
